The Last Week of Summer

So since school is starting on Monday, this past week has been the official Last Week of Summer at our house. We have been playing and working on projects all summer long. It has been crazy, but fun. So of course, we had no reason to slow down this week!!

On Monday, I got to have some "me" time and meet two of my friends, Shawna & Heather, for lunch. We haven't gotten together for a long time, and Heather is moving to Arizona, and Shawna to Eagle Mtn. We decided to catch up without kids, and it was fun to just be able to talk to each other!

On Tuesday, we headed down to Thanksgiving Point for $2 Tuesdays. My mom and sister Megan came with us. We decided to play it safe and just go to the gardens. Good idea. The line at the Dinosaur Museum at 9:30 was already wrapped around the building. The gardens, however, were pretty empty right at first, and even when lots of people started coming, they are so big that we still had plenty of room. We have never been to the gardens, and we had so much fun! The children's garden is great, and all the girls loved it! There were lots of things for them to do. Then we had a picnic lunch and headed to the main gardens. We didn't see everything because they are SO BIG, and we were pretty tired, but the girls really loved the "Secret Garden". I need to get the movie so they can watch it now! It was quite the hike getting out of there, and I was pretty sore by the end of it, but it was worth it!!

On Wednesday, is was the last day of "free lunch" which my kids love every summer, so we went to the park and played. That night, I had a young women's "end-of summer party" and we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows and had homemade ice cream. It was a fun time!!
On Thursday, we didn't have any real plans, but after a call from my mom, we ended up going over and helping her bottle applesauce. Yummy!! The girls wore their swimming suits and ran through the sprinklers at her house.
On Friday, my sister invited us all up to her house for a swimming party. The girls were so excited to swim two days in a row! We had a good time relaxing, playing in the water, eating watermelon, throwing water balloons, and eating popsicles. Thanks for letting us come!!

We are sad to see summer end, but are excited for our adventures with 1st grade to start, and our baby brother's arrival!!
