(Ahh! I can’t believe it’s almost the end of Sept and I haven’t even finished blogging our summer!! I will be in crazy-blogging mode until I get updated!!!)
I was given the opportunity to host another House Party! This time it was a Lego Duplo Read ‘n Build party. I really love houseparty.com. I have gotten to host a ton of these parties. I love all of the cool free stuff I get to share with others! I went a little crazy with the Lego theme this time!
We had Lego gift bags, stuffed with stickers, an idea booklet, a magnet frame and a lego pencil.
I was given four Read n Build “farm” sets, so since I kept one for my family, I had only three to give away to others. I put together some little packages of Legos I got on clearance though so everyone could take something home. I had a jar filled with regular Legos and to raffle off the sets, I had everyone guess the number of Legos in the jar. Everyone did really good at the game. As luck would have it though, only three separate families came to the party, so they ALL got to take one home!!
I also had fun with the refreshments. I went with the Lego colors and made “Lego” juice boxes.
I then found anything that looked like Lego’s for a snack table.
Graham crackers
Club and Saltine crackers
Wafer cookies
and Shortbread cookies
To start out our party, we had coloring pages
I also set out our Lego’s for everyone to play with.
Then we played some fun games. We played “drop the Lego” where you hold the Lego up to your forehead and try to drop it in a jar. It was definitely not as easy as it looked, but the little kids (who were closer to the floor) actually did a great job!
Then we played the Lego spoon race. This is just like the egg & spoon race and was pretty fun too.
The last game we played was “build a tower”. They would throw a dice and use that number of Lego’s to build a tower. Then the next player would add to the tower. The kids and the dads really liked this game and played several times.
While the older kids played the tower game again, I took the toddlers over to read them the story and let them play with the little farm animal Legos.
There are also three different Lego apps and the little boys enjoyed playing with those.
We had such a fun time at this party! Lego’s are the perfect thing for kids of all ages—including big kids like the dads! I love the new Read n Build sets! The story and Lego combination is really fun. It only took Jared a couple of tries to figure out how to get the animals together. He now asks to play with his “pig yego’s” everyday! There are two more sets, and I would love to get them someday too! We had a great time at this party! Thanks to everyone who came and helped make it great!!
