My mom really wanted to go to Moab since she had never been. Back in September, she invited us to go with her, and since we had never been either, we said yes! My family, my mom and Dave woke up super duper early, and made the 4 hour drive down. It’s kinda fun to watch the sun rise while driving!
We got to Moab and headed out on the trail to Delicate Arch.
My kids all really enjoyed the hike. They were great hikers!
We had many many stops along our way where we enjoyed our snacks and some water.
We also saw some fun local wildlife. My kids loved to watch these little guys!!
We followed along the “trail” which was actually a bunch of rocks stacked up to show the way. My kids knocked some of them over and we had to put them back together! :/
Finally after an hour of hiking, we made it to the arch!!
The arch and the view are stunning! We enjoyed some picture taking and some much needed rest from our hiking.
There is a rock wall kind of thing that you have to climb over to walk right down to the arch, and at first it looked too scary to attempt especially with kids. I felt like we had come so far though, to not go right by the arch, so I kind of peer pressured everyone into doing it. Once we got over the wall, the walk over was actually not scary or steep at all! My family and I got up close and personal with that arch!!
We then headed back on the trail! It was such a wonderful day for hiking, and it was fun to watch my cute kiddos hike with Dave and mom!
We made a turn we didn’t on the way there and saw some old Indian petroglyphs.
We decided to do one more hike, since it was just little, up to the “Windows”.
We were all pretty hot and tired by this time, so this hike seemed harder than it actually was. There were also “stairs” which sound nice in theory, but in reality kill your feet and legs!
My kids loved climbing around once we were up in the “window”.
Our view!
Jared was ALL BOY on this trip and even though he only had one little shirt pocket, collected about 9 trillion rocks! Each one was very special and he still has them in his room!
After that hike, we went on a little road trip, that felt like an hour even though it was only about 20 minutes, to the Hole in the Rock. We just got out of the car walked around the gift shop and headed back out to be on the road again! It was short, but at least I can say I have seen it!!
We stopped for lunch and did a tiny little bit of souvenir shopping before climbing back in the van and heading on home! It was one crazy day, but so much fun!! We are making plans for going back and spending more time here! Our kids really enjoyed the hiking, which made it so much fun for us. Our crazy company was pretty great too!! Thanks mom for inviting us on this awesome adventure!!
