Polar Express

One night, not long before Christmas, we sent the kids off to bed an hour earlier than normal.  There was some whining, and grumbling, until they started to wonder if something was going on.  As they each went to bed, they found a golden ticket on their pillow and came to ask us what it was.  We didn’t say anything except that they needed a blanket and some slippers.  Once they were all gathered together, we let them know their tickets were for the Polar Express!

After punching each of their tickets, they climbed into the car where they each fond popcorn waiting on their seats!

We took them to two popular spots to see lights.  First, the street in Taylorsville with the Christmas Story on each lawn.

Then, we traveled to the other side of town to find “Christmas Street”.

We had so much fun on our little adventure!  The kids loved it and it was a fun magical surprise for them!  I think it will be a new family tradition!!

{a little disclosure: we had planned on having cocoa in the car as well, but had gone to a wedding reception earlier that night, where cocoa was the refreshment.  After having that much there, we decided that popcorn would be good enough!!}
