February Fun

I started February out by making a groundhog craft with Jared and Lily.  They loved this fun little craft that we picked up at the library and the fun little song to go with it!

I have been trying to actually USE some of my Pinterest pins, and one of them was about easy games to play when kids are just “bored”.  I used one that was a collecting toy by color game.  Jared was having so much fun with it that Lily wanted to play too.  We had to do every. single. color, but it we all had a fun time!!

Jason and I got to actually have a date night!  Woo-hoo!!  We went with my awesome friend Shawna and her husband Warren out to dinner and then we played the most awesome game EVER!  Walmart Bingo!!  It was so hilarious!  We had fun wandering around the store in our “teams” trying to find all of the crazy people/things it listed.  We took pictures along the way so we could “prove” them to each other.  We even started taking “honorble mention” pictures of things that weren’t on our lists, but were just too “Walmart” to pass up!!!  My favorite of the night was Jason and Warren who actually asked someone if they could take a picture of their dog (in their cart) but were actually taking it of the person!  ha ha!!!  This game definitely needs to be repeated!  We had a great time hanging with Shawna and Warren!!

My mom, Lily, Jared and I went to Ihop for National Pancake Day!  What an awesome holiday!  My older girls were bummed that they had to go to school, but I made them awesome pancakes before they went, they just didn’t get the different syrups.

We made some fun Valentine-y treats (idea from Pinterest).  The kids and hubby loved all of them.  I actually preferred the ones that were just drizzled with chocolate over the ones dunked in the chocolate.

My cousin is getting married, and invited us to go dress shopping with her.  My mom, Amber, Emma, Savannah and I were the ones who were able to go.  It was a fun little day out!

We went to eat afterwards at Applebee’s and had the most bizarre/horrid experience I have ever had at a restaurant!  It not only took them forever to get our food out and/or done right, but we didn’t have forks for at least 20 minutes after food did come, and when we asked for them, the server would return with some that they would then pass out to all of the people who didn’t have food yet, or were only eating their appetizers!  It was crazy and annoying and one of those stories to look back on and laugh!!  Just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, it did!!!  Ha ha!  At least they gave us all of our food on the house! 

The kids had another 4-day weekend this month which was AWESOME!!!  I actually remembered this time that there was a free Grizzlies game for us to go to on Monday.  It was during naptime, but we ventured out anyway, and the kids did great!!  It was fun to actually stay to the end of the game, even though the Grizzlies lost big time! 

Jared ended up falling asleep during the last period and woke up when we were ready to leave.

Grandpa Fergy was working so we got to visit him a few times which is always lots of fun! 

Savannah and Michaela both entered the Festival of the Arts at school and both were able to place in one or more of their entries!!  We are so proud of their creativity and confidence!! 

Since the holidays, our cousin story times have stopped because of moves and a new baby, and Jared and Lily were missing the fun.  So, I started heading to the library each week for their story time and we have been LOVING it!!  The librarian in charge is so cute with the kids and has stories combined with activities for them to do, which they just love!!  They have been pirates in ships, cars going through a car wash, washed clothes on a parachute and hung them out to dry, played a food version of Twister, and much much more!!!!  They ask me every day if it is “story time day”! 

On another craft day, these “flying creatures” were a big hit!!  After 10 minutes of my time with them, they played with these for at least 30 minutes!!  It was awesome!

On the very last day of February, Lily lost her first tooth!!!  She told me quite a few weeks ago that she had a loose tooth, and would wiggle it daily!  She also tried eating lots of whole apples to try to get that tooth to fall out!!  Funny girl!  Finally one day, while I was reading her stories, it just fell out!  She was so excited to put her tooth under her pillow and wait for the tooth fairy.  She was confused the next morning to find her tooth still there, but soon found, not only the money, but a note from the tooth fairy letting her know she could keep her tooth for her baby book since it was her first lost tooth!  She has another slightly wiggly one, and is now working on getting that one out!!
