Our little family had so much fun with pumpkins this year! One night, for Family Home Evening, we decided to take a little walk as a family to the pumpkin patch.
We walked around the corner…
And we were there!!!
The girls took off to find their new pumpkin. Jared tried to run, but got tangled in all of those vines!
They each found the very best pumpkin out there!
We loaded them up,
And headed home….
To our OWN pumpkin patch in our backyard! The kids were so excited to pick more pumpkins! They loved our mini variety too!
Then we headed inside to paint the pumpkins from our own patch.
They LOVED painting their pumpkins!
Now, usually, this is where I draw our pumpkin line. We picked, we painted, we display. But, we HAD to do something special with our BIG pumpkin patch pumpkins!
So, the night before Halloween, we carved them!! I was super nervous about letting my kids handle knives, so they got to be the “creative directors” instead. Jason gutted, they designed, and I carved.
They all loved their pumpkins! (square eyes, one eye, crooked teeth, wiggly teeth and all!)
One pumpkin almost didn’t make it to the porch steps, but it survived it’s fall and they all sat wonderfully on our porch!
I really don’t like carving pumpkins, and that’s why I’ve always steered to the painting instead, but this year was so fun with all of our pumpkins, that we may do it again!
