My day with Mommy

I have really been wanting a day or evening or something just to myself—well, with my mom too!  I told Jason this in passing, and being the awesome hubby he is, he asked and asked until I gave him a day.  I just asked him to maybe get off a couple of hours early, but he ended up taking the whole day off.  I had a dentist appointment for one of the kids and had planned to take them to the library that day and didn’t think I could go for a whole day anyway, but when I told him that, he said he would take care of everything and I was to just go enjoy myself!

We started out our day with breakfast at Scaddy’s.  It was super yummy, and while we forgot to take a picture while we were there, we took a picture of our leftovers later!

Then, we didn’t really have a schedule for our day, and ran around to some of our favorite stops.  It was kind of our “usual” thing, but was really nice to do without kids.

For lunch, my sister Megan heard about our day, and wanted us to come and go to lunch with her.  We went to this little dive-type place called “The Soup Kitchen”.  It was really yummy sandwiches and soups.  It was fun to visit with my mom and sister for a bit.

We had heard about this little shop called RubySnap that made gourmet cookies and decided to stop by.  It was this cute little retro place, and all of the cookies are old-fashioned women’s names.  We tried a few different kinds, and loved all of them for different reasons!  I can’t wait to go back!  So yummy!!

We then did a little more shopping around and traveled down to Traverse Mountain.  We actually hated it there!  There is a roof, but it is still outdoors, and it basically felt like a giant greenhouse inside!  MISERABLE!  Yet, I guess we can both say we have been, and it’s probably wonderful in the winter!  Ha!

A couple more stops, and then it was on home for us.  It was such a fun day and I am so grateful to my sweet husband who took over and became Mr. Mom for a day for me!!  I love that he was so committed to making this day happen for me sooner rather than later!  I also love that I got a day with my cute momma!  We always have a great time together, and it was fun to have no plans or commitments, and just be able to enjoy each other all day!  Hopefully we will get to do it again sometime!!
