The STUMP

When we first moved into our home, we had a fabulous shade tree in our backyard.  We loved all of the shade it gave us, but it was a messy messy tree.  It shed sticks like crazy!!  It was also a HUGE pain in the fall when all of the leaves would fall.  We thought it would be something we lived with for a long time, however, one crazy winter storm later, and our poor tree fell down.  So then we were left with a stump.  I don’t have a great picture of the stump, but you can see it behind Jared here.

It was pretty obnoxious, and right smack dab in the middle of the yard, but we didn’t really know how to get rid of it, so it ended up staying for years.  It has been a great “stage” but also a super obnoxious obstacle to mow around and avoid when playing.  My parents took out a tree in their yard earlier this year, and my mom found a guy who would remove the stump for a pretty reasonable price without using a truck and chains.  So, we gave him a call, and a couple days later, we had stump removal!!

His machine was pretty cool and just ground our stump down into mulch.  He left the mulch for us and we used it in part of our yard.  We do still have a pile of dirt, and not grass, but having the stump gone has sure left us with a better feeling yard!!  We love having it finally gone so we feel like we can use our ENTIRE yard!!  Hooray!!
