Jason and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary over UEA weekend. My sister took our kids for a few days so Jason and I could do something just the two of us. We decided to head to Lava Hot Springs in Idaho. It was such a fun little getaway!
Neither of us had ever been there before, and we had a lot of laughs about the quaint little town and the dive motels! I think ours was pretty good. (other than the heat not working the first night we were there)
This was our motel. (do you see me there by the pole?)
This was our view from the balcony. It was fun to hear the river right outside our door. (When it wasn’t overpowered by the train whistles!!)
Ahhh, and here we are at the hot springs!!
It was the perfect amount of chilly while we were there and the warm water was so relaxing! We had a very lazy weekend and sat around a lot! I loved watching the other families who were there. (And being grateful when fits were thrown that it wasn’t MY child!!)
We wanted to do something adventurous while we were away. We tried to go horseback riding, but they were leaving town. Then we thought maybe we could go 4-wheeling, but there is only ONE in the entire town to rent and it was already gone for the day. We settled on hiking thinking it was by mountains and there must be tons of trails. There is only ONE trail that anyone knew of! So we hiked up to the “L”. It was actually a really fun hike! Pretty steep, but we made it!!

And here was our view. That is the whole little town.
(On our way back down, we got pretty silly)
After our hike, we were kinda sore, and decided to get a massage. That is another thing neither of us had ever done, but it was SO nice!!
We had a lot of laughs throughout our weekend. (Jason’s faux-hawk / His beer glass)
We found the swankiest restaurant in town and had our anniversary dinner. It was really yummy!
(Do you see my honey-glazed salmon? mmmm…my mouth is watering for it right now!!)
And of course, since we were in Lava, we had to have the Chocolate Lava Cake!!
Jason really wanted to play a game of pool, so we stopped in the the arcade place and played a game. (Look at my fabulous form! You are all so jealous that you can’t play like me!)
We relaxed some more and then headed home to pick up our kids in the morning. (The “L” we hiked to all lit up at night)
We had so much fun on our little trip! Thank you Amber for taking my kiddos for a few days, I know 7 kids ain’t easy!
Happy Anniversary to the love of my life!! 9 years has definitely had it’s ups and downs, but I wouldn’t want to have them with anyone but you!!! I love you!
