It’s that time of year, when fruit begins to ripen and I try to bottle as much as I can of the yummy fruit to last us until next year! We usually hit up the famer’s market in Murray, but since it is only open on Fri & Sat, sometimes it’s hard to get to. My mom wanted to try something different. She remembered as a child driving down to Utah to get fruit and there were fruit stands all along both sides of the road. It was called “Fruit Way”. She knew it still existed, but wasn’t sure how to get there. So we took off for an adventure! Wonderfully, as we headed up north on I-15, we saw a billboard advertising “Utah’s Fruit Way, next exit”. So we exited and stopped at the first fruit stand we came to: Pettingill’s
We got a cart (that was impossible to steer, but had room for kids + produce) and started through to find our goods!
Lily and Jared both loved to sit on the cart, although Lily was sad when we filled them with fruit and there wasn’t as much room for her anymore!
Jared liked to help us pick up the fruit to make sure we wanted all of it. There might have been a few slightly squishier due to his helpfulness!
They had a cute giant metal peach and Lily and Jared got their picture taken by it. There was also a scale inside that you could stand on as long as you didn’t jump on it. Jared tried it out, but I didn’t trust him not to jump for me to get a picture!
They also had a giant metal pumpkin.
I’m sure once it’s pumpkin season these hay bales will be full of pumpkins for sale, but for now, it’s a great place to sit for a picture!
The kids helped us load everything up and we were on our way home. There must have been more fruit stands as you travelled up the street, but we found such nice fruit here, that there was no reason to travel on!
On our way back down, we stopped at the Madsen’s to give Amber some fruit and visit for a little bit. She even made us lunch that we got to eat outside on the lawn.
We played for a bit and then headed home.
It was a fun adventure for all of us, and the fruit, even though it was a bit of a drive was the sweetest fruit and wonderful to can! I was able to get quite a lot of jars that will be wonderful this winter. Thanks grandma!!

This looks so fun!!! I wish my mom could retire already so we could have these kind of adventures. It's so fun to read about what you've been up to!
