For Labor Day weekend, we headed to my parents’ on Sunday night for our annual campout in their backyard. We always look forward to this fun tradition!
We started with a yummy dinner of dutch oven potatoes and hot dogs roasted over the fire pit. Yum!
The adults talked while the kids played. Then grandma brought out a special surprise!
She gave all of the girls a princess crown and wand. The girls LOVED them!!
The boys got light-saber swords and spiderman masks. Jared was thrilled! He immediately went into “ninja” mode and ran around the backyard.
Later, we roasted marshmallows and then the kids all settled down for a movie.
Jason and Jared went back home to sleep, and I slept in our tent with the girls. I forgot to take any pictures of us all snuggled up.
In the morning, my kids were all up bright and early. While Michaela and Lily played with cousins, Savannah was in the kitchen helping grandma with breakfast. What a sweet little girl!
The kids had some play time while breakfast was being cooked.
We had yummy blueberry pancakes, sausage, and eggs. mmmm!!!
Later when the tents were being taken down, Michelle collapsed Dave’s tent for him----while he was in it!!
Jared enjoyed being outside all day. He has entered a hitting phase and on Sunday was in time out a LOT for hitting. He was better on Monday, but still spent a lot of time there. I loved the moments he was my sweet little boy, NOT hitting the most!
Daddy was tired and took a little nap.
Grandma let the girls paint their fingernails and they loved it!
Even some of the boys got in on the action!
Later they played with grandma’s stamps.
For lunch we had my favorite—Gourmet Hamburgers!!!
We left shortly after lunch and the kids all rested for a bit. They ended up riding bikes later that evening while Jason tamed our jungle that we call a yard!
We had a great Labor Day, and while I am sad to see summer officially end, I am also looking forward to all of the fun things we will get to do this fall!!

When did Jared get so big! He looks like a cute little boy, not like a cute little baby. Something about those pictures makes him look so grown up!
And your hair is super cute:)
