So, I recently had a birthday. I guess you could say it was one of those “milestone” birthdays. The big 3-0! Turning 30 kind of had me in a slump for a few weeks prior. I don’t really know why. Maybe because I am now supposed to be an adult or something like that. It just felt weird to be that old. (3 decades?!) I was also a little bummed, because it seemed like I was going to be all alone all day. Jason-of course-had work, so I thought maybe I could hang with my momma, but she informed me that she had a tending obligation that day, which really bummed me out even more. It was going to be ok though. I would just have a fun day with Jared and Lily and my older girls once school was out.
Well, my cute family got up early and made me breakfast in bed! Then they showered me with all kinds of gifts including a fabulous poster made by all of the kids! (They were really excited to rub in the fact that I was 30) Savannah also knit me a hat on her circle loom! She made it in about 3 days! What a cutie!
It got to be just about time to take the girls to school. Jason was still hanging around, and made a comment on how he was running late for work. In the very next moment, Jared started shouting from the kitchen “Grandma’s here!” I may be old, but I’m not stupid. I started putting things together pretty quickly. I found out that my sneaky husband had totally planned an exciting day for me! Oh, and that “tending obligation” my mom had, yeah, it was for MY kids!
Jason whisked me off for a fun day all about me. I felt super spoiled! He wouldn’t tell me anything, and just let me find out as we went along. I also found out he had a whole schedule typed out! I loved it! Our first stop: Couple’s Massage!! So wonderfully relaxing!
Then he took me to City Creek to shop my little heart out. (He had told me before we left that I might want to bring my birthday money. hehe!)
Jason hadn’t been down there yet, so I had a fun time showing him around.
We also got a kick out of going in some of the “fancier” stores that I didn’t dare venture in with kids.
We ate a super yummy lunch at Kneaders!
Then we explored a bit more before heading home. We also accomplished a super top-secret mission while down there…more on that another time!
We had my favorite Papa Murphy’s pizza: Spinach-Artichoke, for dinner. mmmmmm! And then to top the night off, we had a yummy assortment of Sweet Tooth Fairy cupcakes for dessert! Jared was helping me blow out my candle because apparently, I’m too slow.
(Do you love the messed up frosting at the top left? Yeah, that was totally one of the littles sneaking a taste!!)
Everyone approved of our yummy end to our day!
I love my super fabulous family, and how special they made me feel! Especially my awesome hub who totally went up and beyond anything I could have imagined!! Love you babe!
Turning 30 wasn’t so bad, and in a card Jason gave me, it said turning 30 was only adult-ish, so if you see me doing something completely juvenile and/or crazy and think to yourself “hmmmm, didn’t Charisse turn 30?!?” Just know that yup! I sure did, and my birthday card said I can be crazy! In fact, I think no matter how old I get, I will always be a bit on the crazy side!

I LOVE that your husband surprised you, that is so cute! What a fun way to spend a dreaded day. Seeing how great yours turned out though makes me feel like my on 3-0 might be survivable:) Happy Birthday!
