A Little December Fun

It’s DECEMBER!  I can’t believe this year is almost over.  It’s been a crazy, busy, exciting, fun year!  So far, December has been equally as crazy and fun.

One of our old neighbors invited Savannah to McDonald’s for a play date.  We decided to make it a family outing so all the girls could play.  I ran into an old friend there that same night and it was fun to visit and catch up.  This was Jared’s first time at the play place, and he loved the little slide.  He was so funny to watch as he went down, around, up and down again!  He liked the little twisty shapes thing too.

I got to go and help in Michaela’s kindergarten class.  We read “Hansel & Gretel” and made gingerbread houses!!  I pre-made the houses so they would stay together and the kids got to decorate them all.  My mom used to come into our elementary classes and do this same project, so she helped me put them together and gave me many many pointers to help it go smoothly.  It was so much fun and the kids had a great time!  I guess the only down side was my cramped hands from squeezing so much frosting out!  Michaela’s little friend Oaklie came over to our house after, and I didn’t grab my camera fast enough.  They had already devoured half their houses!

We found out about a little event where we could meet Santa AND his reindeer.  The kids got a kick out of the reindeer.  Their care taker let us hold the little deer and get a picture of our family.  There were a bunch of companies who gave the kids free snacks and then they got to sit on Santa’s lap and get a cute picture!  Jared did fine once he was on Santa’s lap and could see me.  I think it helped that sister’s were right there too.

We decorated gingerbread houses in our family too.  The girls were really excited after watching me put together so many.  We did this every year growing up, and I am a horrible mommy who has never done it with my own kids.  The girls all loved it!  They had so much fun decorating.  Jared had fun taking each candy I put on his roof right off and into his mouth, and then chewing on the whole house!

I made gingerbread houses one more time for a young women’s activity.  I had fun with all the house making, but after making so many, I am gingerbread-housed out for the year.  Hopefully I can recover and enjoy the fun again next year!

I don't think I have EVER made a gingerbread house...looks like so much fun! Great job in getting all 4 kids to sit for a Santa pic!

Great idea pre-making the gingerbread houses in advanced. That's got to be a huge time-saver! I'll have to try that next time I dare the whole house-making thing again (I skipped it this year...maybe...I do have a kit that I considered doing...). That Raindeer meeting sounds awesome! I want to meet a Raindeer!
