I’m pretty late documenting our Valentine’s Day celebrations this year. They are usually pretty similar, but this year, we added a fun new activity with our kids that we all got pretty excited about!
First things first though. Michaela and Savannah spent a lot of time cutting and writing their names for their school valentines. They both made cute butterfly’s and were so excited to pass them out in class.
In the morning on Valentine’s, we had our traditional “candy trail” leading from everyone’s bedroom to the kitchen table.
They all loved getting some candy, a book and a fun gift from mom and dad!
Lily was pretty sleepy when she got up, but by the time she followed her trail to the end, she was awake enough to give me a tiny smile!
Jared was really fun to watch pick up his trail. He was SUPER excited to find CANDY on the floor!
I helped him with his trail, and Savannah took pictures for me.
I don’t think life gets better than candy and a truck!
We had our traditional “pink” breakfast! Pink milk just tastes better!! Then Jared, Lily and I played around.
I also got to help out in Michaela’s Kindergarten class for their party and we had a great time playing concentration and a counting game! I had jury duty this week, and was really worried that I would miss helping out, but luckily, I wasn’t called in!
I made heart pizza with pink crust for dinner and forgot to take a picture until I had already broken my heart!!
After dinner, I played “HEART” with the girls and Jared while daddy prepared our new fun thing….
A CAMPFIRE……
for roasting HEART marshmallows!!!!!!!!!
HOORAY! Daddy made our little campsite so cute and used all of our “stumps” for chairs.
Jared loved running around outside and had PLENTY of marshmallows!
The girls were so excited when we told them what we were doing, and they had so much fun roasting!
For some reason, roasting marshmallows in the winter has been something I have wanted to do ever since we got our fire pit. (so like, 5 or 6 years!) When I saw the heart shaped marshmallows, I KNEW we needed to do it for Valentine’s! I REALLY REALLY, want to roast them when it’s snowy and cold outside, so maybe I’ll still get a chance to do that this year. It was so much fun, and I think could be a fun new tradition each year!
I love my cute little family so much! I have the BEST husband and the most WONDERFUL kids! I know everything is not always rosy and happy, but we are together and I wouldn’t have it any other way!!
