I finally made it to 2012!
Our first big fun adventure for the year stars our little Savannah.
Her poor little mouth is not big enough for all of her beautiful teeth, so we set out to help fix that.
First, she had to get 4 teeth pulled. FOUR! Poor little girl. She was super brave and didn’t complain at all. The office was freezing and my skinny little girl shivered and shivered until one of the assistants finally brought her a blanket.
Here she is after pulling those four teeth. She was pretty sore and wasn’t too thrilled about posing for all of my crazy picture taking!
5 days later, we headed for the next step. She was really nervous, so the night before she had a blessing from her dad and when I picked her up from school, she found a cuddly little friend to help her get through her day! She named it “smiley”.
While we waited to be called back, Savannah had some fun playing on the arcade games. It took us a while to figure them out, but then she had quite a lot of fun.
So, SHOCKING! I didn’t take any pictures of her GETTING her braces. (She was giving me daggers at this point) She was happy to find out that it was going to be a lot easier than she had thought. No numbing or shots! Dr. Horsley and his staff were AWESOME and made her feel super comfortable with every step. Here is my cutie with her NEW smile!!! She wasn’t as excited to smile for me right after….
…So I made her take another picture when we got to grandma’s house!
I LOVE her braces smile!!! She looks so cute! I never had braces, so I am a super annoying mom. I make her smile at me all the time so I can just look at them! he he! She was excited and nervous for everyone to find out about her braces, but everyone has been very sweet about them. We are excited for the adventure ahead and look forward to the brilliant smile she will have when she is all done.
Side story: Our orthodontist told us that some of the problems kids have later can be prevented by pulling some baby teeth earlier than they fall out on they’re own. So, we decided to take Michaela in for a consultation since it is free. I took her the other day and it was kind of crazy. She is my little spitfire. When she got there, she started making up weird stories like “she is a twin with Savannah, and the only difference between them is that Savannah has freckles.” When the orthodontist had her get up on the chair, he asked her what kinds of things she likes to do. She answered “I’m shy”. !?! When he asked her if her jaw popped or clicked at all, she answered with “no, but I can snap my fingers!” The doctor, the treatment coordinator and I were laughing so hard at all of her antics. I don’t know where she gets this from! She is pretty funny. Luckily, she does not need any treatment right now, but it was a funny afternoon!

I love that braces smile, she will be so glad she had this done. Just don't forget to wear the retainer when they come off. I didn't and I totally regret it!
