New Year’s was another super fun holiday around the Medico house! Jason’s dad had a super duper pizza extravaganza! He spent the day making tons and tons of pizza and ravioli and had the entire family over for the yummy feast!
We all enjoyed our yummy food and stuffed ourselves to the brim and beyond!!
My kids then spent the afternoon playing with their cousins. It was so cute to watch Jared be “one of the boys” with his much older cousins! They took him upstairs to watch a motorcycle movie which he loved and then let him snuggle and fall asleep right on them!
We then headed home and got our baths for church the next day and started our own party! We played games.
Tried out our new Mini Donut Maker from my parents. (We LOVED it!)
Had many many snacks.
And toasted to the New Year!
We “toasted” early enough that we could put Jared and Lily to bed at a semi-decent time. Jason also went to bed since he had an early meeting. But the other two girls were determined to make it all the way to midnight, so I stayed up with them. We put on a movie, and Michaela and I fell asleep. I woke up right as the countdown was going on, and Savannah and I “toasted” once again on the real New Year! We then went to bed, and I hoped I’d be able to function the next day at 9am church!
Because of our pizza party at G&G Medico’s, we didn’t make our traditional personal pizza’s, so we enjoyed another night of New Year’s fun on Sunday and made them.
We had such a wonderful year in 2011 and are excited to see what 2012 has in store for us. I have thought a lot about resolutions these past few weeks. There are a lot of things I want to accomplish this year. I guess it is the “thing” to do, to use one word to sum up your goals. I think for me that word would be ENJOY.
I am happy with my life, but sometimes crazy life makes me go a little crazy, and I get too wrapped up in everything else and not what is important.
I want to ENJOY my children. We have implemented a new chore/behavior incentive, and it has been working great! It is so wonderful to focus on the accomplishments of our kids and look forward to some fun rewards with them!
I want to ENJOY my home. I don’t know if a person ever gets to the point where EVERYTHING is done in their house. I am at the point where the to-do list is so long there is no end in sight, and things keep being added to it. (Not fun things like decorating either, but things like replacing toilets and faucets.) But I don’t want to focus on what is not done. I want to enjoy doing the projects we plan together, but more than that, I want to make my house be a place where everyone can feel happy, safe and secure. Where being HOME is together!
I want to ENJOY the messes. Maybe this seems counter-productive—I definitely want to keep a clean house, but I also want to enjoy the dumped out blocks on my floor all day that my kids build some amazing forts with! Messes=happy kids=happy me!
These are just a few, but in every aspect of my life, I just want to EJNOY everything and be in the moment more. As I have tried to do this more these past few weeks, I have really noticed a difference in how I feel. I have been so blessed in my life and being able to step back and enjoy everything I have been given has been wonderful! I can’t wait to ENJOY everything that comes in 2012!
