Tangled Birthday Party

Lily’s birthday is 4 days after Michaela’s, and she turned four this year.  I always give the kids a little friend party at 4, so even though this year was a little wild, we still had a party the day before her birthday.  She and I came up with a Tangled Birthday Party.  We had a lot of fun putting everything together!

I made her invitation and sent it in the mail before Jason and I left on our trip.

I didn’t do a lot of decoration, because 4-year-olds don’t really care about the decor, but I did do a couple of things.  My mom helped me braid a skein of yellow yarn into Rapunzel's hair.  I draped it across the window.  She also free-handed our Flynn Ryder poster which we used later in our party.

I also got purple lanterns and strung them above the table.  That was it.  Simple but sweet.

I did have the rest of the party stuff out and kind of made it be decoration-y too. (and by the way, decoration-y is TOTALLY a word)

I had coloring pages for the kids as they arrived, and then we all had to get into character.  There were only two little guys, Jared and cousin Zach, but I didn’t want them to feel too girly at a girly party. (Um….maybe Jared wasn’t so worried about the girly factor…)  Anyway, I made them swords and they were our “Flynn Ryder’s”.

Then, for each of the girls, I had a wig so they could be “Rapunzel”.  I loved how excited they all got with their hair and how they all said how beautiful they were!  One of the little girls who knows Jared from Nursery, loved playing with him throughout the party, and at one point told me that she was Rapunzel, and Jared was her Flynn Rider.

First we made a little craft.  A Pascal out of green foam with a pink party horn as his little tongue.

Then we played “Pin the Nose on Flynn Rider”.  I gave them each a little paper and they drew their own noses.  It was cute!

We played a “stepping stones” game and played it just like a cake walk.  The stones all had a different color on the bottom and when the music stopped, I drew a color and that person got to have a Tangled fruit snack.

Then we made our lovely crowns.

Lily opened all of her gifts.  She loved everything!

I love how at this age, the “giving a present” thing doesn’t quite sink in.  When I told the kids to get their gift for Lily and sit down, one of the little girls started opening the gift because she thought she brought it for herself.

Then we made wands for the girls.

And Maximus for the boys.

We had cupcakes with yellow “hair”.

I love this picture of Jared helping Lily blow out the candles!!!

Although I felt like I had a lot to keep us busy, being the only adult was tricky at times.  I enlisted Savannah and Michaela’s help, but we still kind of whizzed through everything, and had some time left over.  I had a backup though—the MOVIE!!  So we went downstairs and watched for a while.

Just before it was time for parents to start picking up their kids again, I told them Lily had a little gift to thank them all for coming.  A little friend said, “Oh!  I will take the barbie!”  Which was the present she had brought.  hehe!

This is was I put in the little favor bags.  For the girls:

Lily had such a wonderful time with all of her cute friends at her fun party!!  It was definitely the Best Day Ever!
