It seems like January is always a boring slower month, especially coming off all of the holidays. I have actually LOVED having so much free time though, and have been using mine and Jason’s to get some much needed stuff done around our home.
We have pretty much been in “organize & fit-it” mode this month. I have been working on a HUGE project called “organize this house!” I expect that it will take a very very very long time, but I have really enjoyed the progress I have made so far. With my sweet momma’s help, I went through every single one of my cupboards in my kitchen and re-vamped them. I now have a place for everything and SPACE to SPARE !! It has been wonderful and makes me feel like I have a whole new kitchen! I have also gone through my bathrooms, Michaela’s room, our master bedroom and office space. I now have some incredibly organized spaces and some others that are getting run over by “boxes-of-stuff-that-needs-to-go-somewhere-else”. Don’t worry boxes, you will soon find a new organized home!
Jason has been awesome at tackling some handy-man projects, which, while they don’t sound very exciting, have been pretty great! He installed a new faucet (again), two new toilets, and is currently reconfiguring a closet.
So with all of those projects around, we haven’t had as much “exciting” news. Here are a few snippets that actually have pictures so this post is not so boring!
The first few are all about Jared. He loves to get out of bed at night and rummage around in his room. It is pathetically cute when we catch him asleep somewhere else, like curled up on his rocking chair.
Whenever I pull out a camera, even if it is to take a picture of someone else, Jared tilts his head and says “cheese”! So, I usually snap one of him too! (How could I resist a face like this!)
One Sunday, I was relaxing on the couch, and loved how cute Jared and Lily were playing with this little bowling set. Instead of rolling the ball, they would use the ball to knock each pin over separately. Too cute to not take a picture of!
The kids had a fun 4-day weekend during the month, and while nothing especially exciting happened, we did go to Wendy’s with their Christmas gift cards from G&G Medico. Lunch out to eat is always a treat!
I also had a mini girls day out one Saturday, where I went and bought some fun new watches and then went to the Garden for lunch with my mom and sisters.
On another Saturday, in between projects, Jason took me out to my parents’ neighbors’ new café “Pop on Over”. We ran into my parents who were also out for a fun lunch and enjoyed some oh-so-yummy food!!
So that’s a little of what went on during that whole huge month of January! I usually get the “January slump” and feel like the month just drags on and on with nothing, but this was actually a great January. I feel motivated and energized and am loving the feeling of accomplishment that comes with getting so much done! I also have really enjoyed the relaxing pace and being able to spend so much more time with my family!
