Valentine’s Day 2012

Valentine’s Day was pretty mellow and low-key at our house this year.  One of our favorite traditions is the “Valentine Trail”.  This trail that goes from each child’s bedroom to the table is usually made from conversation hearts.  But this year, with Savannah’s braces, I didn’t want any part of this holiday to be something that she couldn’t eat.  Sometimes conversation hearts are soft, but for the most part they are as hard as a rock, so I chose to go with kisses instead!

Jared was our first little one up that morning and when he realized there was candy all over the floor he was EXCITED!  He still had no idea what was going on, but any day that begins with candy on the floor is a GOOD day!

Soon the rest of the gang was up as well and very excited for their treats and our new movie The Smurfs!

For breakfast we ate Red Velvet Waffles with Vanilla Pudding Sauce.  They were super yummy!!!

My Valentine and I exchanged gifts. (Seeing as our gifts are essentially the same thing, I think it’s safe to say we know each other pretty well!)

For lunch, we enjoyed heart-shaped sandwiches.  Then Jared, Lily and I headed to the school to help with two class parties.  We had lots of fun there playing games with all of the school kids!

For dinner, since it was a dance day, we had heart-shaped pizza at Grandma & Grandpa’s house.

And for dessert, we enjoyed Red Velvet mini donuts!!! mmmmm!

Also, a bonus from this holiday, I learned that making a cake mix and then using that for mini donuts is a most fabulous and super easy way to make them!!!  (yes, I like donuts…..why do you ask?….)

It was a wonderfully easy-going day and we all felt lots of love from each other!!!
