*We had our own little “March Madness” where we let the kids buy anything off of our “ticket” list for 1/2 price. They had a lot of fun deciding what they would choose to do.
Michaela and daddy went to Nickel Cade.
Savannah and Mommy went to The Lorax.
Lily and Jared chose a Lunch Date.
They also had fun picking things like backrubs, no naps, extra treats and time on mom’s ipad!
*During a cute moment of play, Michaela spelled Lily’s name with Legos. It was a pretty darling moment!
*Jared is officially potty training, and it pretty much means I don’t leave the house very often anymore! He has been pretty easy going, and likes his “baby” to wear undies just like him!
*We have had a few really unique FHE’s this month. For one, we copied an idea I used in Young Women’s and played “Mormon Angry Birds”! This was a really fun one, and I am sure we will be playing it again!!
*Jason and I got to go to the Midnight showing of Hunger Games!! We both really enjoyed the movie, even though it was really crazy being there at midnight! We kind of had fun laughing at everyone who dressed up!
*I went out to dinner with the sweet ladies from my Young Women’s presidency. I love these ladies SO much, and will really miss working with them. It was a great night to visit and talk!
*My mom took me, Jared and Lily to the downtown Harmon’s one day. It was really fun! We explored all of the little places inside,
And then decided to grab ourselves some yummy lunch! Lily was kind of sad that I made her get actual food and not the many yummy treats she saw, but still ate it all up!! Yum!
One last bit of March fun, and it’s on to April!
*We enjoyed Conference weekend. It’s always fun to stay home and spend the weekend together as a family listening to our prophet. We had lots of yummy food: bagels, orange rolls, sub sandwiches and a yummy turkey dinner. My dad invited all of the family to go for ice cream after the Priesthood session. It is becoming a tradition that my kids love and definitely look forward to!
I also just have to mention one other thing we tried this weekend, that was a great big FAIL! An idea I saw on Pinterest, to have “Conference Pennies” and have your kids listen for a few words. They get a penny each time they hear a word, and then can “buy” things from mom and dad. I found that my kids were not really listening to the context of the talks, but running up and down every time they heard one of our “words”. Maybe for really little kids who are not listening to the content, this is an ok idea, although, I found it really distracting, and couldn’t concentrate on the talks with my kids yelling out words constantly. My kids do just fine with some coloring sheets and, for the older girls, sheets to write what all of the talks are about. I think they listen much better when I do things more simply. We stopped the “pennies” after the first session because it drove me so nuts! Nice idea in thought, but the execution was not good at all. Moral of this story: not everything on Pinterest is Fabulous!
March was great and we look forward to our adventures in April!!
