Bar J Wranglers

Our second day in Jackson, we had reservations at the Bar J Wranglers!  This was another yearly tradition growing up.  The last time I went was also the first time Jason went- 11 years ago, before we were even married!  We wanted to make sure we got the front row, so Jason was a trooper and was willing to hang out at the Bar J for the day so he could get us the best seats!

So what did the kids and I do all day while daddy was gone?  We played in the pool of course!!!

Since the Olympics were on, we would watch a little bit most nights before bed, and Michaela was really into the diving!  She is sure that it is the perfect sport for her to pursue.  She practiced many of her dives during our vacation!

One very important step that most of the Olympic athletes forgot about was testing the water.  Michaela always made sure she did this step.

Getting ready…

And dive!  A lot of times it ended up looking more like a somersault into the water than anything else!  She was really into it, and it made me chuckle quite a bit!!

I was able to wrangle all the kids away from the pool and up to our room to take a nap, which was great!  Then we headed to the Bar J to meet up with daddy.

I was so excited to show my kids around!  They loved getting a biscuit with honey, looking in the gift shops, seeing all of the “bears” and the cowboy stuff everywhere!

Jared, Lily and Michaela all found cowboy/cowgirl hats that were darling!  Savannah found a cute wooden pair of earrings that just looked like Jackson.  We also took our kids on a horse drawn wagon ride.  We were right in the front and the cute kid driving the team was really great to talk to.

People were so nice and when they saw us taking a picture of our family they would offer to come take one of all of us!

I did have a bit of a “momnesia” moment right after this wagon picture.  I went one way and Jason went another.  The girls all followed me, and when I saw that Jared wasn’t with Jason, I started feeling that panic-y feeling, and shouted to Jason, “Where’s Jared?!”  He looked a little puzzled as he responded, “In your arms!”  Because I had SHOUTED this conversation, there were some people sitting around who got quite the chuckle out of my moronic-ness!!  We all got a pretty good laugh out of it!

After exploring for a while longer we headed inside to wait for our dinner to be ready.  Thanks to Jason being first in line, we got the very front row!  Hooray!

Soon, it was dinner time!  Mmmmm!  Yummy yummy food!  The kids, including Jared, LOVED it all!  Several of them even went back for seconds.

Then it was time for the show!  Babe Humphrey, the founder of the Wranglers came out to introduce the rest of the wranglers.  He doesn’t perform with them anymore, but it was still cool to see him, since I grew up with him in the group.

It was a great time!  There was great music and lots of laughs!  The girls loved it and kept repeating all of their favorite jokes for a long time after!  Jason and I also loved it!  It was good to go back.  We just might have to make it up there each summer, and start the tradition up again!
