We decided to put Lily and Jared into swim lessons this year. Savannah and Michaela are awesome little swimmers and so we decided they didn’t need lessons anymore. Lily has taken a couple years of lessons, and this would be Jared’s first year. They were both pretty excited!
Here they are on their first day! Love the great big smiles! After class the first day, Jared came running up to me and told me “That was so fun mom!”
Jared finally got to learn the legendary game “Alligator, Alligator” and lucky him got to be the first Alligator!
Lily made some little friends in her class, which sometimes meant she was talking or playing when she should have been listening, but I guess that’s what I get for having super social kids!
Waiting for swim lessons to start. Michaela and Savannah were awesome to sit patiently and watch their little bro and sis. One day, they all had sunglasses, and while Lily was at her lesson, Michaela held them, er wore them for her…..along with the pair she was already wearing! Man, I love that crazy kid!!
It was fun to watch them progress and learn a little bit more each day.
On the last day of class, they just have a big play day for the kids. They get to go down the slide, play with toys and if they are daring enough, jump off the diving board. Both of my kids went down the slide with their teachers—they were too chicken to go by themselves.
They had fun playing in the water and with toys too.
Finally, when their teachers asked them, they decided to try the diving board! Jared went first. It was pretty cold that morning and he just stood and shivered the whole time he waited. His teacher helped him to the edge and had to basically drop him in the water. He loved it!
After watching her little brother go, Lily decided to give it a try too. She got a little scared and needed some help to get to the end of the board too, but was able to jump in all by herself.
They both decided to try it one more time before class was over. My older girls were so bummed that they didn’t get to play in the water, and go off the diving boards, so we might have to make a trip there together sometime this summer!!
