We had a fabulous 4th of July this year! We started out bright and early eating a yummy pancake breakfast at grandma & grandpa Fergy’s.
We decided to have a little “Nascar”-type party as well. Savannah helped me make all of the posters. We made a “Sponsor” banner with all of the companies that various family members work at.
Savannah also made signs for all of the games and the Pit Stop.
We decorated with road signs as well.
We started with parents helping the kids turn cardboard boxes into their race cars.
The kids had a really great time with this—as did our dad! They loved decorating their cute cars.
We got all of the kids lined up, and set….
And they were off!!
It was hilarious watching our kids run around the yard over and over in their cars!!
After our “race”, we played some more games. Red Light, Green Light, with some extra fun moves like “thunderstorm” and “bumpy road”.
We had a beanbag toss into inflatable tires.
Then we had our “spare tire” eating contest with donuts hanging by strings. This was another awesome part of our party!!! The kids actually did a really good job! Michaela actually ate hers so quickly I didn’t even get a good picture!
After a long day of racing, our little people needed to cool off in the “Car Wash”! They ran through the adults who sprayed them with spray bottles (pre-rinse).
Then through more adults blowing bubbles (soap).
They ran through the sprinklers (rinse).
And finally to the fan to dry off!
They loved it!
Then we sat down and had the dads come up with “Awards” for the cars.
Once all of the awards were passed out, the dads had a competition of their own with tire yo-yos.
I loved that we did this party on a holiday so we could involve the dads so much! The kids sure loved it, and I know Jason was super into all of the activities too!!
Once we were done with the games, the kids just played in the water. It was a HOT day!
For lunch we had gourmet hamburgers. I always love when we have this menu!! It’s so much fun! We did have to incorporate some of our “car” theme into the drinks. (Motor Oil, Antifreeze & Organic Fuel)
Jared and Lily wanted to eat inside of their box cars! It was pretty cute.
After lunch we had our snacks which we were able to make even more “car” themed!
We all enjoyed our yummy treats!!! We played for just a bit more, and then headed home to rest up before our next adventure.
We went to grandma & grandpa Medico’s that evening, and after another yummy BBQ, we had some fun with our cousins and fireworks.
We played some games until it got dark,
Jared didn’t like playing with all of the older kids, so he soon wrangled Jason to play some frisbee with him!
Finally, we got all settled on the grass to watch the show!
We had a great day with our cute little family celebrating this wonderful country! Happy 4th of July!!
