On our third day of vacation, we took a little road trip up to Star Valley, Wyoming to visit my Grandma Wilkes. The kids loved our trip up there last year, and this was a MUST on their vacation list for this year too! I love that they get to know their great-grandma and look forward to visiting her every year.
When anyone visits grandma, she always sends them to Burger King for lunch. The kids loved getting a crown and playing in the playland while we ate.
Once we got back, the kids ran off to play and explore. They had a blast in the playhouse. I love to see them play in there, since it was our favorite place to play when we were young too.
They climbed on fences and into the treehouse.
They went exploring in the “forest”.
Someone may have fallen in the ditch! He had to stay outside until he dried, which luckily didn’t take very long since it was so warm outside.
Then Savannah and Michaela gave a little piano concert to grandma. I was impressed that they remembered their songs so well, and grandma loved listening to them play.
Last year, Savannah really wanted to see in “Grandma’s Bunkhouse”, but for some reason, we just never made it out there. So this trip, she was sure to remind me, and we got the keys and took a peak. It was fun to tell the kids all about the fun we had sleeping out there when we visited. We also took a peak inside “Grandpa’s Kitchen” and I told them all about grandpa cooking us breakfast out there every morning.
We then took some more fun pictures around the house and bridge.
And with grandma, of course!
We are so glad we were able to make it up there again this summer. It was a crazy day going up and back, but we enjoyed the time we could spend with grandma and Aunt Carolyn.
On our 4th day, we took the kids to the Zoo! I haven’t been to the zoo in the summer in years. We usually go in the winter when they have free days. I always said it was because I hate the hills with a stroller, which I totally do. Luckily, we have four great walkers, and didn’t need one!
This summer they had a Lego exhibit there, and we loved seeing the different creations.
The day we went, Village Inn was there with free pie samples. My kids were all over that!!
We made it to all of the shows. We really enjoyed the elephant show.
The bird show was awesome!
We also got to see the trainers work with the sea lions.
We LOVED the new splash pad!! It was a roasting hot day, and the kids were completely soaked, but happy!
We enjoyed walking around together and seeing all of the animals.
Just before we left, we let the kids ride the carousel. They loved picking out which animal to ride!
We were heading out, and saw this display of giant legos, so we had to stop and play with them for a minute too.
We had so much fun at the zoo together!!
From the zoo, we went to the dollar theater so we could watch “The Croods”. We all really enjoyed this movie and had fun despite the random kid who cried through the entire first half of the movie!
That night daddy made up BBQ chicken and we had a super yummy dinner!
It was a great day and we still had a couple more before our vacation was over!
