*Spring Break 2011* {day 1}

The girls had a whole WEEK off for spring break this year.  We weren’t traveling anywhere, but I was determined to have LOTS of fun with my kids!  I came up with all kinds of ideas I knew they would love.  Every morning, I would bribe them to do some chores before they could participate in the “FUN”!  It worked pretty good.  My house wasn’t a “complete” disaster and the kids didn’t get too bored with nothing to do.  I had so much fun with all of our activities and there were a few we didn’t get to, so we will for sure be doing them this summer!!

I wanted each activity to be a surprise, so I gave the girls two “hints” to choose their activities.  The first thing we did was make GAK.  We gathered our ingredients: {1/4 c liquid starch, 1/4 c glue, 3 drops food coloring}

And started mixing them around in ziplock bags.

When we first pulled it out it was really GROSS!

But after playing with it for a while it got not-so-slimy and we were able to have lots of fun with it!!

All 4 of my kiddos were entertained for a long long time with our fun creation!  We tried to store our gak, and other than all the colors blending together, it worked pretty well.  I guess if we didn’t want them to blend we could store them in different containers-- or just make it again, after all, that was 1/2 the fun!

One of our neighbors gave us some of their toys their boys didn’t play with anymore.  One of the toys was a bucket of duplo legos.  Jared LOVES these and spent a lot of last week dumping out the whole bucket and playing with them!  My girls love to build with them too!

While the younger two were down for a nap, Savannah and Michaela colored some Easter pages Grandma Fergy had given them over the weekend.

Then when they were awake again, we made Beeswax candles with a kit I had in my stash.  The wax was kind of old and a little bit brittle, but luckily we could just squish it back together.

The girls loved making candles and want to use them for their next birthdays!!

We ended Day 1 of our Spring Break with a little Family Home Evening on Easter.  It was a fun start to our crazy week!!
