*Spring Break 2011* {day 3}

Day 3 started out a bit crazier than our other days.  I had scheduled Jared’s 18 month doctor appointment for this morning, not realizing it was the middle of spring break.  I knew I would have to take all four kids to the appointment, but I figured it was only a well child check up and wouldn’t be too long.

We were our doctor’s first appointment of the day and got right back to see him.  Unfortunately, when he walked in, there was a new/learning doctor with him.  I have had many many visits with these observer doctors, and while I understand they need to learn somehow, I really really hate it when they have to “learn” with me and my family.  First of all, I feel like my doctor talks more to “them” than to me about my child.  Second, he usually has them do part of the “checking”.  This time the other doctor was supposed to get some wax out of Jared’s ears.  She ended up hitting his ear drum pretty hard and he was screaming like a banshee.  Last, I hate it because my normally 15 minute check up turns into over an hour!

My doctor wanted me to fill out a questionnaire that was 5 questions long and he left while I filled it out.  While I waited for him to come back, my kids started flipping out.  Jared went bezerk.  He kept grabbing for my purse because he knows I usually have treats in there.  I gave him every treat I had and he was still flipping out.  When my doctor finally came back in he commented about how Jared must have already had his shot.  Nope!  He is just pretty sick of the doctors office by now!

Jared is not much of a talker, and while I am not worried in the least, my doctor wanted to see if he had low iron by chance.  I was really upset and just wanted to leave, but decided to see how long it would take.  They were able to get him right back and it didn’t take very long, but I was an emotional mess!  I HATE seeing my kids in pain, especially when they are too young to understand why.  I really hate that another person had to come in the hold Jared’s arm.  So sad!

We did get Jared’s 18 month stats.  He is officially OFF the charts in height at 35.3in.  He is only 50% in weight at 26lbs 2oz.  He is following in Daddy’s footsteps to be TALL!!

When that was finally over we headed home.  We stopped at McDonald’s for a happy meal.  Partly because for the most part, they were really good through that horrifying experience, and partly because, I was DONE for the day, and did not want to make lunch!  The happy meals were from “Rio” and the containers doubled as “hats”.  They all thought this was pretty hilarious and wanted pictures taken!

Later that day we popped our ceramic alphabet out and we got to paint them!

We didn’t get to do a lot of things, but we still did SOMETHING.

One more shot from this day-Jared.  After his snack time consisting of yogurt, he used the leftover and spilled yogurt to give himself a new gel job on his hair!  I think I should let him do his hair everyday!!
