Summer ~ Week One

Our first week of summer seemed like it was mainly full of cleaning.  (Gotta put those rugrats to work around here!)  My goal this summer is to do at least ONE fun thing each day so my kids don’t feel like all they ever do is chores.   This first week of summer, I started into a MAJOR cleaning project and the kids were great to help, take care of younger siblings, and do the other things I asked them to do.  We managed to do our ONE fun thing each day, even if it was something little.

On Sunday, we had extended family pictures taken.  I haven’t seen the “PRO” shots yet, but I did snap some of the “Cousin Photo Session” as it was happening.  These kids are absolutely hysterical!  I love the not-perfect pictures that we always get with these cuties!

Monday night, we played yard games with daddy.  Jared just wanted to sit in his swing.

Jason and I taught the girls all kinds of fun games from our youth, like “Stuck in the Mud” & “Kick the Can”.

The girls thought they were so much fun and really loved chasing mom and dad around the yard.

We had fun too!!

On Tuesday, we went and spent the morning at Seven Peaks Salt Lake waterpark.  We loved it and are excited for our season passes so we can go lots more!  I didn’t get pictures because it was just me and the kids.

Wednesday and Thursday were the days I was most engrossed in my huge project.  The kids spent a lot of time playing outside, jumping on the tramp and Savannah and Michaela put together puzzles.

I also let them pick out a chapter book for me to read to them.  We usually read one chapter a day, (but sometimes they talk me into two).  It is so fun to read with my kids and enjoy that time together.

On Friday, I decided enough of my project, I was going to spend the day with the kids.  We made Chalk Paint.  It was so much fun!!!  The kids loved it and played for hours!  It was super easy to put together too!  It only uses cornstarch and water and we used food coloring to make them different colors.  If you want to make some too, we just used a muffin tin and put 1 T of cornstarch in each cup and then 1T of water and mixed in the color.

How pretty!  (except for the ugly black color.  I sorta, kinda, maybe forgot the color wheel for a minute and mixed the wrong colors.)

The girls absolutely loved it though!

Jared had a great time too.

Here are Savannah and Michaela’s rainbows they colored after they dried.  Looks just like chalk!!

Jared finally decided that painting himself was much better than painting the driveway.

What a messy little boy!

Then we pretty much spent the remainder of the day outside.    We rode bikes, went roller skating, tried on helmets, and played a little football!

I love just parking myself right out in front and enjoying the weather and my cute kiddos! (Jared likes to steal my chair)

Saturday we did a lot of yard work, and ran some errands.  Later in the day, we decided to take daddy to the waterpark.  We took some pictures this time!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE spending time with my family!  We have a whole big list of things we want to do this summer, and I hope we get to do everything!!

I want to go to a water park. Your swimsuit is so cute! Also, I don't think you ever knew the color wheel so...
