I was asked to be one of the parents to go to the Zoo with the Kindergarteners this year. I love the Zoo, and I am pretty sure I haven’t been since Savannah’s Kindergarten field trip! Jared and Lily of course got to tag along with me which was great fun for them.
I had a group of 5 kids. Three boys and two girls. These kids were a lot of fun and a lot of hard work! This age just gets so excited about everything and it was really hard to keep them all together. I had two kids, (Michaela was one of them) who kept running about 20 feet ahead while the other little girl in the group drug her feet about 10 feet behind!
Even though I felt like I basically yelled the entire time, and felt completely exhausted and frustrated by the time it was over, it was actually really fun! The kids did all have fun little personalities and let me take a bunch of pictures of them!! Jared LOVED the animals and Lily loved the animals and making friends with Michaela’s classmates!
The Zoo has a “Zoo-rasic Park” theme this summer, and it is SO COOL!! There are life size Dinosaurs all over and they move and sound like real ones! Most of the kids, mine included LOVED this and went crazy over all of the Dinosaurs. My little slow-poke girl was kind of nervous of them even though I told her over and over that they were not real. She preferred the fully caged and far away animals. We will definitely be going back this summer with our entire family!
We were the first school group there, and since it was so early, the Zoo was pretty empty which was awesome! We had the place to ourselves for quite a while. We were also there during the animals’ breakfast time!! It was so fun to watch them since they were pretty lively. Jared went crazy for the big Ape who lumbered right over to the glass. I loved all of the cute baby animals that were around! The elephant has to be my favorite!!
It was a great day at the Zoo! Even the rain that had been kind of a standard lately held off and we only got a few sprinkles while we were there. Perfect Zoo weather!
With a bunch of monkeys!!

I'm so glad you had a great field trip experience! Later in the afternoon it can be CHAOS with all the school groups, morning is definitely the best time! Did you see the water spraying dinosaur? If you had kindergartners with you, I'm sure you did, it seems to be a crowd favorite:)
That Zoo-rasic theme is so cute! I'm wishing we could come visit SLC this summer and see it. What a great field trip to join in!
