A Little Change…

I was out of town this past weekend, and while I had a great time on my fun little adventure, I was sad to miss out on being home for a little change in my own life.  After 5 years of being in Young Women’s, the last 3 1/2 serving as president, I was released.

When I found out they were releasing me, I was hoping it didn’t end up being the same weekend I was going to be out of town, but unfortunately, it was.  I was pretty broken-hearted to not be there.  I have absolutely LOVED every minute of the past 5 years in young women’s and the amazing girls and leaders I have had the privilege of working with.  I have loved getting to know all of those sweet girls and learning so much more from them than I think they learned from me.  My testimony was strengthened over and over again as I saw their simple strength in this incredibly hard world.  Every single one of them has been a friend and a wonderful example.

I hope they all know how much I love them.  It was really hard not being there to say “good-bye”, and I hope they never pass up an opportunity to give me a hug in the hall at church! (current and former young women!!)

I want them to know my testimony and how sure I am of this gospel.  It is true.  Plain and simple.  We have been blessed with so many wonderful things.  I know Heavenly Father loves each of those girls all so much and wants all of them to succeed and be the very best they can be.  I know that He is there for them in every little thing.  I know that He will pick them up and comfort them in hard times.  I know that they also have a loving Savior who has suffered every hardship they will have and is also right there for them when they need Him.  He will guide and show them the way if they will follow His example.  I know the council that is given from prophets for them is right and will help them on their Celestial Journey.  I love all of the girls I have worked with and am so happy to see them growing and learning and progressing.  It has truly been a privilege for me to be there with them.  I am so grateful to my sweet presidency and advisors and everything they did to help and teach and make my life easier.  They are extraordinary women who have all blessed my life.

Even though I am sad to be leaving YW’s, I know it is time for me to move on to my next adventure in my ward.  I don’t know where that will be yet, but I know it will also be a place where my testimony is strengthened and I will love it too.

This church is pretty amazing, and it’s because it is true!

Thanks girls for all the great times!

You did such an amazing job, and I'm sure it's a hard change. I'm glad you got to have the opportunity to serve in Young Women's. It's something I would really like to do someday. I know the Lord will put you to work somewhere else where you are needed! Hugs!
