So we heard about a ghost town that we could go and visit, so one fine, rainy day, I loaded up my kids and joined Jennie and my mom on a little adventure! We traveled to Ophir, UT and got to see their cute little “ghost town”. We found out once we were there, that they open the houses and buildings on Saturday, or you can call for an appointment. Since we didn’t know that, we didn’t get to see the insides much, but we did peak in the windows, and that was just fine!
We saw the little one room schoolhouse,
The little houses,
and a wagon.
Jared pretty much wanted nothing to do with pictures, and just ran from place to place, but every once in a while he would pose and say “cheese” and I managed to get a couple of decent pictures!
We saw the outhouses—including the double decker one!
We saw an old train car,
Some of the old mining equipment,
and the firefighter hose.
It was a fun little place to visit!
After that, we travelled to the Benson Grist Mill.
We enjoyed playing some more in the rain!
We learned about the mill, and tried to grind wheat.
There were also some other old buildings and an old camp trailer that we took a look at.
The kids really loved the chickens and had a great time chasing them all around!
We enjoyed a little lunch, and took a look in the country store before we headed home again.
In spite of the rain, it was really a fun adventure! We would like to go and visit both places again!
