Jason and I took our kids to the Safe Kids Fair last weekend. Because of a bunch of other things going on, we weren’t able to go until Saturday afternoon. We also didn’t discover until we got there (and followed someone to their car so we could get a parking space) that we didn’t have the stroller! I was sure it would be miserable. It was a little crazy with so many people, but most had been there to see Iron Man and it thinned out pretty quick. As far as our no stroller situation, the girls were great at keeping track of their own stuff, and Jared was fantastic! I couldn’t believe how good he was with no stroller! He would switch off between Jason and I holding him, and a few times he would walk while holding our hands. I think he was actually better than if we had HAD the stroller, because he got to participate in everything just as much as the girls!
The kids got their faces painted, their pictures taken for ID badges, went on a school bus, went on a fire truck, learned about fire safety, met new friends, went on a crazy “Tumble Bus”, and rode bikes on a safety course. We have gone to this fair for quite a few years now, and it’s one my kids look forward to a LOT! They even remember a lot of the attractions and ask specifically for them before we even go! I love that it’s a fun way for them to remember the importance of staying safe. I was a little disappointed in how many “stores” there were vs. previous years, but all in all it was a great time!
Jared got the most compliments about his face painting. It was really hard to get a good picture of him, since he wouldn’t stay still, but it is just a simple BYU on his forehead! (Oh, and Michaela definitely still had a tint of green to her forehead for church the next day!)
Here is the picture of me and the kids that was made into a badge. (Jason was standing in line for face-painting)
A funny story, the next day (Sunday) as we were buckling everyone up to head to church Jared’s car seat literally BROKE in Jason’s hand! We managed with a booster seat that he did NOT like until I could get a new one Monday.
Until next year, STAY SAFE!

Such a great outing for the family...glad Jared did so well without the stroller. Not sure we could have handled it! Wish we had a similar event here...maybe I will have to look a little harder!
