Cabo San Lucas take 2 {part five}

Our 2nd day in Cabo, we decided to take it easy.  No shore excursions, just beach and shopping!  We decided to take a water taxi over to the beach.

We were almost out of the harbor and his engine died.  He worked on it for a while, and another boat came over to see what was going on.  The guy finally figured it out and we were back on our way.

The boat takes you right up to the beach and you hop off.  Of course they drop you off right at the major area so we had to dodge all of the guys trying to get us to pay for a spot to sit.  We found a nice little place that wasn’t crowded and spread ourselves out.  Jason took a panoramic picture of our beach.

It was a wonderfully relaxing day, swimming and chilling!

We then headed to a place our friends from our first day in Cabo suggested, The Office.  It is a restaurant right on the beach.  All of the tables and chairs are stuck in the sand and tons of blue umbrellas shade the whole area.

We were right at the edge of it, so we still had a nice view of the ocean, but were back a little ways from all of the peddlers.  Although I know it’s how they earn money, it got super annoying by the end of this day.  We really wanted to eat in peace.  Sometimes they would stand next to the stage area and try to catch our eye to sell us whatever they had.

We another fabulous meal!

These two performers approached us and asked if we wanted a song.  They were great, and when they were done, the guy with the guitar asked, “do you want to give me a tip?”  We did of course, but that line has been one that has snuck into our daily conversations.  “Honey, the house looks great!”  “Do you want to give me a tip?”

We headed back on another water taxi and took some pictures of the beach.

The blue umbrellas are The Office.

This is where we spent our day!

We went souvenir shopping  and then returned to our ship.  We were kind of sad to see our shore adventures come to an end, but we knew we still had some fun days at sea ahead, and then home to see our kids again!  We did call our kids before we got on the ship, but although I had turned my phone off, it had somehow been turned back on and was dying.  We talked to each of our girls for just a couple minutes before it died.  I was kind of heartbroken, but it was probably for the best.  They were having a blast, and it was super expensive to call, so the phone dying made it so I didn’t rack up a huge bill!

There were a couple of funny bathroom things while we were in Mexico.

The public bathroom in the Cabo port didn’t have paper products in the bathrooms.  Instead there was a man or woman standing outside who would hand you some TP as you went in, and a paper towel as you came out.  Someone had told me before we left that they had a similar experience in another Mexican city, but that the people handing out towels wanted a tip.  These people never asked, and I don’t know if we were supposed to, but we definitely didn’t.

Some of the other bathrooms we used throughout the week had signs in them saying “no paper in toilets”.  It took me a while to figure out they meant the toilet paper, and remembered Ashley telling me about how their plumbing or something isn’t very good so they don’t flush that stuff… (sorry if that was TMI!)

Anyway, we absolutely loved both Mexican ports, and would love to go back someday!  I am almost done telling our adventures.  Just a few more fun things and then back to reality!

Compared to the bleak, gray, gloomy skies we have had here in Utah, these pictures look like PARADISE! I could sure use a little sun and sand about now! Looks like you had so much fun on your trip!!
