We went on a trip: Thanksgiving #2 and Flying {part one}

This past October, Jason and I celebrated our 10th anniversary.  To celebrate, we decided to go on a cruise together!  It seemed so far off from when we first planned it, and didn’t really feel like a reality until the couple of months before we left. I was excited and nervous on so many levels.  Our trip was going to be full of firsts for me.

First #1: Leaving my kids. The longest we have left our kids was about 2 1/2 days, and although it was fun, I was itching to get back to them. This trip was 9 days away from my kiddos. Leaving them, even in the best hands, was HARD!

First #2: Flying. Yup! I am 29 years old, and had NEVER flown on a plane. Not only was I terrified of being up so high, something happening or getting sick, I was really nervous that our luggage would get lost. I know, completely irrational, but hey, that’s me!

First #3: Cruising and Mexico!! Never done either, and was afraid of getting sick on the ship and with all of the unrest in Mexico, was kind of scared to go there!

All of my fears were for nothing.  We made it home safe and sound, and had the BEST time!  Our luggage didn’t get lost, Mexico was not scary at all and the only sick I got was a headache. 

After saying goodbye to our kids the night before, we headed off nice and early to the airport.

We had quite a wait, but enjoyed using the wifi and “people watching”.

We flew into Long Beach, which was a fun LITTLE airport!  I loved walking right out onto the tarmac.  I’ll say my first flight was about a 5.  I was so nervous that I couldn’t really enjoy anything.  I also got a pounding headache as we descended which was not fun.

We flew in the day before our cruise and we got to spend some time with Ashley & Luis!  They picked us up from the airport and then we had a yummy 2nd Thanksgiving Feast with them!

We had so much fun talking and laughing with them, and the food was super yummy!!

We went to church with them on Sunday, and then they drove us to the pier….
