After our fun service morning at the school, we headed back home to change and get ready for the girls’ dance competition. We gathered all of our stuff, the rest of our family, and headed to the competition. Because of my previous brain shut down, there was one other event I had over-scheduled for myself. I originally was just going to go to the competition with my dance girls and leave Jason home with the younger two, but then I needed Jason to run and do the other event, so I took all of the kids with me. Jason dropped us off at the competition and headed off.
When we walked in, we saw that all of Michaela’s class was in her other costume, so we ran to change. While changing, I asked her where her dance bag was so she could put her dance shoes on. She had left it in the car!! Oh no! Jason didn’t have his phone, so we had no way to get the bag. We had to make do. Savannah had borrowed a pair of tap shoes from her teacher so she could match all of the girls with black clogging shoes, so Michaela had to wear those even though they were too big. As far as ballet shoes though, we were stuck. Some of the other moms had been in the room when we discovered her missing bag, including one mom from my mom’s ward who I know quite well. She had a daughter in one of the other classes and she found a pair of ballet shoes from another mom who also had some older daughters, and so would still be around for Michaela’s dances. I was so thankful for a good friend who would do that for me, and a nice mom who was willing to lend us the shoes! I was pretty frustrated by this point, so the help was so great. The ballet shoes were small, but we shoved her feet in them and they worked for the one dance! My mom came to watch the girls and she willingly helped me out with Lily and Jared while I ran to help girls with costume changes. It was so fun to see their cute dances. They are both so darling and getting very good at dance! I enjoy watching them do something they love!
Ok, enough of my babbling, here are some pictures from the day.
The girls in their costumes.
Jared, Lily and grandma watching the dancers. (Jared loved dancing to the music too!)
The girls with grandma and the darling balloons she brought them—The girls with their trophy's.
My camera takes pretty crappy pictures of the actual dances. I am hoping to be able to get a nicer one with a better zoom before their recital, but for now, no pictures of that.
I stressed about this day for weeks knowing we had so many different things going on, but I am glad it all worked out!
