I was in denial all weekend, yet Monday came anyway. Despite my protests, it was the first day of school. I’m not ready for this, but my two cute students were! They woke up BRIGHT and EARLY (someone had set their alarm wrong…) and were pouncing on me to get up so they could GO already!!
I wanted them to have a fun first day of school breakfast, so I made them crepes. They loved them and had about 4 or 5 each!
They got all dolled up and had all of their school stuff ready at least 45 minutes before it was time to go. We stalled with pictures.
We were able to go one day the week before and meet both teachers, so the girls were even more excited already knowing their teachers were darling.
Michaela’s 1st grade class ~ Ms. Friddle
Savannah’s 3rd grade class ~ Ms. Ramsay (she’s the one holding the door open.)
We got to peak in at them again later, and they both were loving class so far.
I went home and promptly sulked.
I was kind of at a loss of what to do all day. Not that there wasn’t TONS to get done. I think my denial led to this crazy day. I spent most of it sitting and looking at my watch. Time moves slllooowwwwllllyyyy when you are watching it.
Finally, it was time to pick up my cute girls. My favorite moment—when they saw each other, ran and gave each other a great big hug!
They then started filling each other in on their days.
I really do love how much my girls love school. They are always happy to be going. They have been super excited to see each other at school. They usually see each other and sit by each other at lunch, and play together every chance they get. They always tell each other the fun things they did in class instead of me. They come home and are thrilled with their homework, and sit right next to each other, Savannah “helping” Michaela if she needs it. They have really become the best of friends!
After one week, I can say, that I am not in denial anymore and that just being able to spend time with Jared and Lily has been fun. I also quite like my “me” time every afternoon when they both take a nap.
It’s going to be a great year!
