Straight to You

A few weeks ago, Jason came to me and told me he had an idea for a date night, and he really wanted to surprise me, but didn’t want to make plans without talking to me first to see if it was ok.  Of course, after that intro to our conversation, I wasn’t going to let him NOT tell me what he was thinking.  He wanted to take me to the Josh Groban “Straight to You” concert!!!!!!  Of course I was absolutely thrilled!  It was the day I was getting home from Youth Conference, and I was afraid I would be rushed or really tired, but since YC had been so nice, I was feeling great!  Our seats were pretty far back, but they were in the lower bowl near the top, so no crazy up and down stairs all night!  BONUS!

I embarrassed Jason completely as I took pictures of all the signs all around the arena!

Then I noticed that my camera was quite low on battery, and it occurred to me that I had not charged my camera after youth conference.  I was DEVISTATED!!  I knew the pictures wouldn’t be that great, but I still wanted some of the concert.  So, I did what every irrational person would do, and went searching all over the concourse to find an outlet.  I found one and made Jason stand there with me while we let my camera charge for a bit.  It didn’t give it a full charge, of course, but I was hopeful that I would get some decent pictures before it died.

The opening act was Elew, who is THE most amazing pianist I have EVER seen!!  He was crazy good, and during several songs, he would reach into the piano and pluck the piano strings like a guitar!!  I was worried about my camera dying, so I only took one picture, but I made sure it was one of him doing the “guitar” thing.  Jason and I were absolutely blown away by how awesome he was!

Then, onto the main event!  JOSH!!  He had two stages, and one was actually pretty close to us, so that was fun.

He was so funny! He had us laughing every moment we weren’t swooning! (Jason will kill me for saying this, but yes he “swooned” too!)

He had a question from the audience time and someone asked him to play his “Kanye West Tweets”, so he did.  That was pretty hysterical!

During one song, he actually came out and did a drum solo.  He is an amazing musician, besides being an amazing vocalist!

It was an amazing concert!  I loved every second of it.  I have been listening to his music non-stop since the concert, and it doesn’t even compare to seeing him live!  It was so good!!   He encored with my all time favorite song “You Raise Me Up”.

We had such a great time together at such an amazing concert!  AND, my camera didn’t die!! (I KNOW it was that 10 minutes of charging out on the concourse!)

We haven’t been to a concert in a long time, and I know that while Jason doesn’t hate this music, it’s not really “his” kind of music, so it was very sweet of him to think of me and how much I would love it and be willing to come with me!  Thanks baby!  I love you!!!

3 things:
1. I am also jealous!
2. I can totally picture you searching around for an outlet.
3. You said the word "amazing" 5 times in that post, so I'm just wondering if you would like to borrow my thesaurus:) Just kidding!

What a sweet husband you have! For taking you to the concert and for letting you charge your camera on the concourse, that's totally something I would make my husband do:)

And I went and watched the Kanye Tweets video and I was laughing so hard!! It was probably even more hysterical seeing it live. I'm super jealous you got to go to this AMAZING concert:)
