Our 3rd day of camp started with our turn on the lake for canoeing! Ragena and I got to be on a paddle boat so we were more sturdy and could take pictures. I was worried that it would kill our legs, but it wasn’t too bad. We decided that the missionary couples were right, and it was the way to go! Our girls all had a great time paddling around the lake!!
I love everything about this picture!! These girls are some of our brand new beehives, and every time they got close to us, they would ram into our boat! I love the look on Ragena’s face, and the girls’ impish expressions!!
After we got back from the lake, it was time to head out on our hike. One of the leaders from a different ward planned the hike and it was between 3-4 miles. I got wind of another ward taking a bit of a shortcut because they were worried about being out in the heat of the day. (we didn’t start the hike until after 11am) I love hiking, but I am definitely an early morning, or cool weather hiker, so I jumped on the rebel bandwagon and took our girls on the shorter hike. It was still plenty long, and very pleasant.
We made all of our girls come on the hike, and then Ragena turned around early to go back with a few of the girls. We had one little girl who had an asthma attack on day one, so we were helping her take it easy.
When we all got back, we had “mandatory nap time”. (Yeah, this was pretty much for me, I was pretty doggone tired!) After I was feeling refreshed, we invited the girls to join us at “Heber Valley Spa”. We boiled water and let each of the girls soak their tired feet. We had the foot sander things, lotion and nail polish for them to pretty up. When the girls were finished, we took a turn too. It was HEAVENLY!!
We were lucky to get a dry night, and set to building a fire. What is camping without a s’more and roasting Starbursts? It took us a little while to get our fire roaring. And the prep part of the night, is all I have a picture of, because, let’s face it, once I was able to roast that yummy goodness, I was quite pre-occupied with that!
Another day, another meal! The girls were pretty good about getting up each morning to help cook.
We had our Stake Spiritual Experience in the morning. It was a great way to start the day, on a spiritual high!
We played lots of fun games at camp, like “The Ninja Game” and “Dip dip dip”.
We made another craft. I saw a cute idea online to make burlap rosettes and line a picture frame, so I spent days cutting up strips of burlap. The girls all got individually creative and we ended up with some DARLING frames, even though none was exactly like the original.
We then did an activity as a ward, that we kind of threw around at our first camp meeting. We were all super excited about it! We decided to “Bomb” all of the other countries/places! We got black material in squares and wrote BOMB with gold glitter.
We had everyone write notes to the different wards about what we enjoyed from them at girls camp. Because we were all VERY close in proximity, we got to know the other wards really well. We had a lot of fun with them, and I loved the other leaders I met! The girls wrote some really nice notes. We then filled each bomb with their notes and some candy and tied them up to sort of look like a bomb.
Our Bombs, all ready to go!
Our “Bombing Crew”.
Two girls at a time would take a bomb up to a cabin, throw it in and run! We had such a blast!
We came back and enjoyed another perk of camping with electricity—Ice Cream! It was perfect for the hot day!
Our guests came that evening.
All of the fabulous ladies I work with in young women’s were able to come up.
Then it was time for our skit! We did a fabulously random rendition of Vector with the stolen PYRAMID!! Oh yeah! The girls did a great job!
Of course, we ended our night with a wonderful testimony meeting. I love the testimony meetings at girls camp and this one seemed extra special! I know it was the spirit that is constantly felt at Heber Valley. It really is a special place!
I am so glad for my calling right now and the wonderful Young Women I get to work with. They are all so darling, and definitely keep me feeling young!
I had such a blast with them, and even though I am still not feeling *fully* recovered from the crazy week, I would do it again in a heartbeat!! Hooray for Girls Camp!

I love your skit with the stolen pyramid from Despicable Me(hehehe), I'm sure the girls loved that! What a cute theme for camp, it looks like you guys had a great time!
That seems like so much work! I'll stick with my lazy callings:)
