Wow. That title makes it sound like I’m gonna write a novel! I promise I will try my best to not be so long-winded!
First, I forgot to mention, that on Thursday, the girls and I headed over to the school to try and drop in on their new teachers. Both teachers are new to our school this year, and are DARLING!!! They are both young and super excited about teaching. Both of my girls came home GUSHING about their teachers and how excited they were for school to start!
On Friday night, we went to the Bees game. We usually spend the summer going to several games, but this was our first, and will probably be our last of this season. The kids are always excited to see Grandpa at work!
We headed out to our favorite spot….the grass.
We met most of my family there and had a way fun night with all of them.
Oh, and here I am!
Jason laughed at me for taking that picture. If he only knew how many crazy pictures I take of myself….
Ok, here is a better one. (I do better when I pose WITH someone!!)
I love these two girls all cute and huggy and all three of these kids snuggled under the blanket is darling!
When attending a baseball game with youngsters, it is hard to keep them very focused on the game. We have to provide them with many many distractions. Megan took videos of the kids and then let them watch it. It was VERY entertaining!!
I think Afton was so excited to play with Jared. She really only knows how to wrestle him though!
Cute kids, watching the game and eating a treat.
This game was fun, because there were fireworks after. Even though it made for a really late night, it was tons of fun to watch!
On Saturday, we went as a family to………..the WATERPARK!!! (shocking, I know)
Right as I went to take this picture, Lily fell backwards into the tube! hehe! I love her little feet in the air!
We did some things these last couple times that we haven’t done the entire summer. There are these giant cliffs to jump off, a rope swing, and pink slides that drop off about 5 feet above the water. Since I was usually alone, I didn’t want the girls to get “stuck” in the deep water without Jason there. After seeing how well they did on the diving boards though, I let them try them. This is their new favorite area, and we end up spending most of our time here. The only drawback, is that the water is FREEZING, so Lily, Jared and I don’t do a lot of just playing in the water.
That night, we had a special movie night, where we watched RIO! We love this movie, and the girls saw me buy it many weeks ago. They have asked if we could watch it many many times, but I always answer with something like “its not for us”. But really, I was saving it for a fun End of Summer BASH! (also notice the 9 trillion layers of clothing Lily has on.)
Sunday was our very OFFICIAL last day before school. I made the girls a special dinner that they chose, we got all of their clothes in their rooms and ready for the morning, and Jason gave each of them a Father’s blessing. That is probably my absolutely favorite part of back to school. I love that my dad gave each of us one growing up, and I love that my sweetheart can give each of our kids one too.
The girls were so excited for the next day, that they went right to bed with no complaints and were out like a light!
This summer has been a crazy, fun, exciting, whirlwind, magical, spiritual, and an all around good time! I really do look forward to all of the family time we get to spend together. I love the lazy days, and thinking of our next big adventure. It seems like there were SO MANY things we wanted to do, and didn’t have time for, but I guess the most important things, like just BEING together, were definitely accomplished. It’s very bittersweet to see the summer end and school start up again, but I am determined to be happy with whatever season of life we are in. School….here we come!!!
